The power and majesty of God unleashed

The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.

Psalm 19: 1-2

I am traveling by plane this week, so I was naturally riveted to the national weather reports. Fortunately, my flights have not yet been interrupted by the powerful storms that have crippled the Mid-Atlantic states and I’ve been able to carry on with my own schedule and plans.

Yet thousands of people have had their plans dramatically interrupted. Washington and the surrounding communities came to a virtual halt with unprecedented amounts of snow that have effectively crippled the region.

As I listened to the news reports of federal government closings, I could not help but be reminded of who is really in charge…It’s easy for us to rely on our own strength or might, and fail to see God’s hand in all things.

And God does interrupt our plans. Look at Scripture. Story after story of interrupted plans: Abraham was asked to leave his homeland; Noah told to build an arc; Job’s family killed, business destroyed, and health tested; Mary’s dreams of marriage altered; and Paul stopped on the Damascus Road. The list could go on and on…could this list include you?

Has the snow or anything else interrupted your plans this week? I urge you to take this time to examine your perspectives on power and control and submit yourself to the Lover of your soul, God Almighty.

Right Hank, God makes it snow. Last month Hank blamed evil for the earthquake in Haiti when he asked why God would allow such a tragedy to happen. In what sense of the word "why" does plate tectonics not supply the answer for the earthquake in Haiti? How much longer do we have to listen superstitious knuckleheads give us magical answers for things we already have answers for. Sorry Hank, but the local weatherman has your God beat when it comes to explaining the weather.

I love when Hank says, "In the age of scientific enlightenment blah, blah, blah we're all going to start believing in magic, angels, demons, Satan... sure we Hankster. Dream on.

Of course when I don't convert this is solid proof that prayer doesn't work. But you Christers will somehow be able to justify your failure and ignore the proof that prayer is nothing but an ancient superstition.

I was so encouraged by two sermons from Paul Washer that I wanted to share it with ya'll.

Everyone should hear his very true message.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, Don, for sharing all of that.

I have so many instances to share about how the good LORD has answered numerous prayers of mine throughout my life thusfar. Glory! Glory! Praise GOD!

Please check into Dr. David Jeremiah's book 'Discover Paradise.' [It can be 'googled'] It is like a travel brochure for Heaven! Cool! Hope you enjoy that!

Also, this is about 'worship' of GOD not "warship" so to speak. I fail in my verbal dexterity to be able to describe how deeply wounded (and unfairly hurt) Brutis was in his childhood. I don't yet have Boris' permission to share any details here re: his trauma. That's ok. GOD is able! I'm lacking in vocabulary, words-wise, to explain how much I appreciate Boris sharing his struggle here. It is such a blessing to reach out and try and help him. I know you all agree. Be inspired and uplifted, scripturally! godly compassionate Love, Luv, LOVE!

Ms. Ann Onymous,

My dad has his book What in the World is Going On? and this one looks good too. I have many books on my wish list (mostly Spurgeon and some of Piper and MacArthur). I'm really excited about Alex and Brett Harris' new book Start Here. I've already read Do Hard Things and can't wait to read Start Here.

Well, to be honest Boris i am a Creationist and i am all for Science and Reason so your claim is false. The majority of Creationists are for these things. I think you only see the extremist side of Christendom which want to live in the dark ages still.

I do believe we have climate changes but note the term, climate changes, The natural long term cycles that the earth goes through without the help of man of some opportunity to take a theory that has a good portion of the scientific community divided, while politicians takes millions of dollars banking in on this and celebrities who out of far-left ignorance preach the hysteria while making the average citizen appear stupid.

And before you say i am a Fox News fanatic and a bleeding far-right republican, i am not. I am independent, a fiscal conservative and liberal on some social issues. I still support the Constitution of which many God-fearing founding fathers wrote and spoke of with passion.

If you think every single scientist and climatologist believes in Global Warming then again you must be God to know what every one had thought, given a speech of or wrote in a e-mail. Even if one person is right about this, it still could be proof that Global Warming is a scam. However, the video says more.

Also, there are plenty of Scientists that are supportive of intelligent design. It is just that they are shunned by a closed minded element of the science community in a post-modern Darwinist world view. I hate to break the news to you but there were a lot of renowned old-world scientists that believed in a divine being.

Anonymous said...

Now, Boris. You can argue that there are more scientists that are still non-creationists so therefore there right because there in the majority. However, what is popular does not make something right. It is a poor argument at it's core.

Also, let's not ever get started with Evolution. A theory that can not be proven as solid evidence sense there are no transitionary forms in the fossil record, carbon dating is unreliable, the laws of thermodynamics prove that everything around us is not as old as some claim to be. Foot prints of man found next to dinosaur foot prints, can't be? Lucy, Peking Man all hoaxes.

Also i do think there was a Big Bang but it was caused by a being.

Also, your assertions about Americans only denying Global Warming, really? Have you spoken to every non-American as well. There are also many Americans that support Global Warming ideology.

You assume the demographics of the warming deniers being in trailer parks of the Southern and Midwestern United States. How do you know all of this. I am from progressive, liberal Southern California living in a good sized house on a busy street. There are more like me sir. Also are you saying trailer park people are stupid? Living a simple life style and being layed back does not imply anyone as stupid or ignorant. I suppose in you world view it is all class warfare were the more enlightened people live in modern citys and are smart were the rural folks are just a bunch of primitive morons, huh? There are a lot of dangerous ideas that came out of modern folks, however i am not saying modern progression is wrong. In fact i like technology a lot and at the same time i will get lost in a forest. I love knowledge and science and yet i can see the design of a supreme being everywhere i go. Hard to fathom for some i suppose.

To assume i am evil and stupid is childish, hateful and blatantly ignorant of many like me. You find making fun and names calling is amusing and yet it seems to show the lack of maturity and social intellect on your part and i loose respect for you. How, even say you were right in the end can i have respect for you after the way you behave.

In the end, it will be the truth that will prove either side wrong and i think i am on the winning side as history has and will prove this so. This is not me placing myself on high position of i am right and you are wrong war, but after the long term cross-referencing of both secular and biblical sources, world history, philosophy, archeology, and so on. I think anyone with an open mind and heart can be shown the truth if they so choose to accept it in time.

Don said...

"what is popular does not make something right. It is a poor argument at it's core."
Amen! How that can be said about many things in life!

"Also i do think there was a Big Bang but it was caused by a being. "
*laughing* Knows who else says that! *winks* Another person I have great respect for.

I second what you said. "Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11

You are a shameless pathological liar. In other words a typical Bible thumper. I never had any childhood trauma. YOU did when your parents brainwashed you with the superstitions of an evil and false religion. Of course as a creationist you'll claim to love science and reason. But nothing could be further from the truth and the founder of Protestantism admitted it: "Reason should be destroyed in all Christians." -Martin Luther.

Your claim that there are no transitional fossils is a lie and I'd like to see you try to prove it. There are lists of transitional fossils on the Internet and real fossils on display in museums and in CHRISTIAN universities all over the world. Once again your own academic community does not support any of your creationist lies.

The claim that carbon dating is unreliable is nothing more than typical science bashing from Bible thumpers. In addition to radiometric tests, we can date rocks my measuring the length of their subjected exposure to cosmic rays. The observable aging occurs when a neutrino, a type of subatomic particle, strike a rock and reacts with certain minerals to form a measurable amount of radio isotope. Using this analysis, rocks in undisturbed desert locations are determined to be hundreds of thousands of years old, while rocks thought to be relatively new, based on independent tests, indicate an age of only a few thousand years.

Your claim evolution can't be proved is a lie. Evolution is a fact, species evolve, and the Theory of Evolution is an explanation of the facts of evolution.

You claim that this or that fossil is a hoax is absurd. Sure there have been people who tried to pull hoaxes with fossils. But who discovered these hoaxes and debunked them? Why it was scientists themselves, not any creationists. Your lies about science prove what a lowlife and dishonest person you really are. Again you Bible thumpers have been wrong about every scientific discovery and theory ever made ever since the Bible has existed. It was Bible believing evil scum who tortured and murdered scientists and burned witches because their discoveries about the natural world proved the Bible to be inaccurate.

"Every fact is an enemy of the church. Every fact is a heretic. Every demonstration is an infidel. Everything that ever really happens testifies against the supernatural." - Robert Ingersoll

Boris said...

For over a millennium Christianity arrested the development of science and scientific thinking. In Christendom, from the time of Augustine until the Renaissance, systematic investigation of the natural world was restricted to theological investigation - the interpretation of biblical passages, the gleaning of clues from the lives of the saints, etc; there was no direct observation and interpretation of natural processes, because that was considered a useless pursuit, as all knowledge resided in scripture. The results of this are well known: scientific knowledge advanced hardly an inch in the over 1000 years from the rise of orthodox Christianity in the fourth century to the 1500s, and the populace was mired in the deepest squalor and ignorance, living in dire fear of the supernatural - believing in paranormal explanations for the most ordinary natural events. This ignorance had tragic results: it made the populace more ready to accept witchcraft as an explanation for everything from illness to thunderstorms, and hundreds of thousands of women paid for that ignorance with their lives.

When scientific investigation into the natural world resumed in the Renaissance - after a 1000 plus year hiatus - organized Christianity did everything it could to stamp it out. The cases of Galileo and Copernicus are particularly relevant here, because when the Church banned the Copernican theory (that the Earth revolves around the sun) and banned Galileo from teaching it, it did not consider the evidence for that theory: it was enough that it contradicted scripture. Given that the Copernican theory contradicted the supposed Word of God the Catholic hierarchy reasoned that it must be false. Protestants shared this view. John Calvin rhetorically asked, "Who will venture to place the authority of Copernicus above that of the Holy Spirit?" No Protestant denomination accepted the findings of Galileo and Copernicus until well into the 19th centusy - over 200 years after their discoveries were made.

Today fundamentalist Christians are still engaged in the 2000 year long Christian war on science. Arguing against evolution or Big Bang cosmology or old earth geology, dating methods, the existence of transitional fossils and all the rest of the science that proves the Bible is full of inaccuracies is just Galileo, Copernicus, Newton, Bruno and all the rest of the scientists Christians tortured and murdered all over again. The little boy who cried wolf. Science is wrong and Jesus is coming are both nothing more than lies. There isn't a shred of evidence that Jesus Christ ever existed, nor is there any evidence for angels, demons, Satan or any God. This is why creationists must continue with their lies about science. And this is why I will continue to debunk those lies until the last believer is strangled with the guts of the last preacher.

Boris said...

Wrong Hank. The power and majesty of SCIENCE has been unleashed. No longer can evil science denying Bible believers stand in the way of advancing science without getting crushed. Modern science has brought an end to the Christian system of dogmatic superstitions.

"Christianity...has been over for a hundred years now... When something even so small as light bulb goes out, the eyes for a moment still see it; and a sound after it is made will have, in the right places, an echo. So it is not at all strange that when something so huge as a world religion goes out, there remains for a century or more in certain places some notion that it is still there." - Mary Jean Irion

I don't seem really hurt. That's just one of your excuses for why people don't accept your asinine religious beliefs. You have to tell yourself that there's something wrong with unbelievers when the truth is it's the believers who have something wrong with them and have been really hurt. They've had their pride and self-esteem crushed by religious dogma. It is not accidental that Christianity regards pride as a major sin. A person of self-esteem is an unlikely candidate for the master-slave relationship that Christianity offers. A person ridden with guilt and self-doubt, will frequently prefer the apparent security of Christianity over independence and find comfort in the thought that, for the price of total submissiveness, God will love and protect them.

The fudamenta; teaching of Jesus - the demand fro conformity thus gives rise to a fundamental and viciously destructive teaching of Christianity: That some beliefs lie beyond the scope of criticism, and that to question them is sinful, or morally wrong. By doing this Christianity declares itself the enemy of truth and the faculty by which man arrives at truth: reason.

Wrong AGAIN. Those words are as anti-scientific and inaccurate as they could be! The Genesis creation account conflicts with the order of events that are known to science. In Genesis the earth is created before the light and stars, birds and whales before reptiles and insects, and flowering plants before any animals. From science, we know the true order of events was just the opposite. It's actually amazing just how wrong the Bible is about the natural universe. Even the Greeks know the earth was round. But Hebrews believed the earth was flat, never moved, was supported by pillars as described in the Bible and orbited by the sun everyday - unless someone stops it from moving! ROFL!

Once again your argument is totally destroyed by the atheist. Your lies just won't stand up in a century when you can no longer torture and murder people for not beleiving them.
